Production plant in Germany successfully certified under the International Cyanide Management Code
- CyPlus shows its commitment to its precious metals mining customers
- The facility has been successfully certified for the sixth time
The CyPlus production facility in Wesseling, Gemany, meets all the required safety standards set out in the “International Cyanide Management Code for the Manufacture, Transport, and Use of Cyanide in the Production of Gold” (ICMC). Once again, production obtained certification with “full compliance”, without a single objection. The facility has therefore been continuously successfully certified since 2006.
In addition to the certified productions in Germany and Mexico (CyPlus Idesa), CyPlus maintains various certified transport routes as well as terminals and warehouses to support our customers. These certifications show the high commitment of CyPlus to ensure safe and responsible handling of cyanides and to support our customers in precious metals mining. Training sessions on cyanide handling together with our customers, transport companies and authorities are an essential part of our engagement.
The ICMC – along with other certifications – is a vital factor in our cyanide business. It not only applies to production in Germany and Mexico, but also to the delivery routes for our gold and silver mining customers worldwide.
The ICMC is a voluntary, performance driven, certification program of best practices for gold and silver mining companies and the companies producing and transporting cyanide used in gold and silver mining. The Cyanide Code was developed by a multi- stakeholder Steering Committee under the guidance of the United Nations Environmental Program and the then-International Council on Metals and the Environment. CyPlus GmbH was among the first official signers of the code.
