Minimizing pollutant emissions
Monitoring sources of emissions through regular plant tours

One to two plant tours per shift are the norm at Röhm’s facilities around the world. The purpose is to detect and remedy eventual malfunctions at an early stage. Whereas in the past a staff member would take paper, pen and spanner on their rounds, in the future they will also take a tablet. During the tour, they document their observations with the help of a preprepared digital questionnaire on a mobile device. Any unusual occurrences are entered into the digital shift book.
During the plant tours, the employees conduct visual inspections for pipeline defects, equipment and machinery, and detect increased noise emissions or odors. This contributes to the safety of the facilities. In the long term, potential for optimization can also be leveraged. Plant tours using mobile devices accelerate communication across the plant, reduce paper use and increase flexibility. The results of plant tours can also be statistically analyzed as well. The problem of a recurring phenomenon can be addressed more quickly and in a more effective manner by applying measures that tackle the cause of the problem.
