Marcel Graduates at the Top of His Class
His commitment has not gone unnoticed: The 24-year old just completed his training at the top of his class in all of the Rhineland-Palatinate. He received the certificate at home in the mail. Marcel also named the 13-person team to which he belongs as a reason for his success: “I was treated like an equal colleague from the start,” he says. “Every always met me at eye level.”
From the personal protection training to the technical safety training: There was plenty of practice in Marcel’s training. In particular, he was especially interested in the topic of crisis management. As a volunteer with the volunteer fire department and, until recently, with the German Red Cross, Marcel had prior knowledge here, which he was able to utilize. Marcel has not yet had to deal with any dangerous situations as a plant security guard. “Even if it has been busier at times: I have always been able to sort everything with words. We went through a pronounced deescalation training,” he says. He is currently attending the master school for two and a half years so that he can help train young plant security guards himself in the future.
Anyone who would like to become a plant security guard should like to work with people and be able to handle stress well, advises Marcel. He is even well liked by his friends in the voluntary fire department. But the tension also melts away on long walks - preferably with his Rottweiler dog Chanel and his partner. His partner is also supporting him in his big wish: Studying safety engineering in Koblenz. “I would be able to bring my love of my profession and my passion for the fire department and the rescue service together there.”
