No compromising on quality: all three global production sites of PLEXIGLAS® and ACRYLITE® molding compounds successfully certified by DQS Inc. according to IATF 16949:2016

• The two US sites in Osceola (production) and Parsippany (administration) have been certified by DQS Inc. to the IATF 16949:2016 standard
• All three global production sites—in Worms, Shanghai and Osceola—are now certified to IATF 16949:2016
• The Molding Compounds business unit meets the stringent quality requirements of the automotive industry as a sub-tier 1 supplier

In the USA, the Molding Compounds business unit of Röhm GmbH has successfully certified the production facility in Osceola, Arkansas, and the administration site in Parsippany, New Jersey, in accordance with the IATF 16949:2016 quality standard. As a result, all three global production facilities for PLEXIGLAS® and ACRYLITE® molding compounds, the polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) product brand of Röhm, are now IATF 16949:2016 certified.

In 2018, the standard defined by the International Automotive Task Force (IATF) replaced ISO/TS 16949:2009 standards and certification, thereby combining the existing general requirements for quality management systems in the automotive industry.

For the audited sites, the new certificates provide verification that all quality management requirements were met in the course of the audits. To complete certification, business processes in various fields of application were reviewed. These included the fields of purchasing, warranty management, IT, customer support, supplier management, marketing, personnel, product development, process development, testing, quality management system, strategic planning and sales.

No compromise on quality and reliability

“The certification of all our production sites to the IATF16949:2016 standard is a resounding success for the entire business unit. This demonstrates that we have satisfied the requirements of a world-leading manufacturer of PMMA products for the automotive industry,” said Siamak Djafarian, head of the Molding Compounds unit at Röhm. “Naturally, clients in other industries will also benefit from the successful auditing and certification of all our processes, which shows that we refuse to compromise on the quality and reliability of our PLEXIGLAS® and ACRYLITE® molding compounds.”

In the most recent audits carried out over several days by DQS Inc. (the German association specializing in the certification of management systems), the auditors verified that all processes in the Molding Compounds business unit are fully aligned to the requisite quality standards, and thus conform to the stringent quality requirements of the automotive industry —even as a sub-tier 1 supplier. “Obviously, we also aim to work to the same standards of quality in the three global regions. We are delighted that our efforts have been successful, and that we have obtained the appropriate certification for every region. Coordinating three audits for the production sites plus one satellite location called for some outstanding teamwork,” recalled Volkhard Erb of ESHQ Management Molding Compounds, who oversaw the certifications with colleagues in the various regions.

Our Osceola molding compound facility now proudly shares IATF16949:2016 certification with our plants in Worms in Germany and Shanghai in China,” concluded Herve Morvan, Quality Specialist at Röhm America.
