Change of Management at Röhm: Dr. Hans Bohnen takes over CEO role from Dr. Michael Pack
The Supervisory Board of Röhm GmbH has appointed Dr. Hans Bohnen as Managing Director of Röhm GmbH effective February 1, 2024.
Dr. Hans Bohnen is thus taking over the CEO role from Dr. Michael Pack, who had decided after 34 successful years in the chemical industry and almost 10 years at the top of the MMA/PMMA business to withdraw from the operational business and retire as of March 1, 2024.
Ronald Ayles, Managing Partner at Advent International, says: “We would like to express our sincere gratitude to Michael Pack. As the CEO, he has had a decisive impact on building and continuously developing the new company Röhm while also implementing the growth strategy in a determined and team-oriented manner.”
Dr. Dahai Yu, Chairman of the Röhm Supervisory Board, emphasizes: “Michael Pack successfully led the company through Corona times and drove key projects such as the construction of the new LiMA plant and the acquisition of the Functional Forms business from SABIC. We very much regret his decision to retire and wish him all the best for the future.”
The change of leadership at the top of Röhm has been planned long-term and will take place seamlessly during the first quarter with a joint handover period for the top management.
“Röhm has the target to become the world's leading Methacrylate-Verbund and aims to further expand the company's technological leadership position. I will play an active role in shaping this,” says Hans Bohnen, explaining his motivation for the new task. Ronald Ayles states: “With Dr. Hans Bohnen, we are gaining a proven industry expert who brings international experience from various chemical companies to the new role and brings comprehensive know-how of the respective market, technology and strategy.”
In recent years, Dr. Hans Bohnen successfully held international management positions in various chemical companies. Hans Bohnen began his career at Hoechst AG and then took on various management roles at Celanese, SGL Carbon and the strategy consultancy Booz Allen Hamilton.
In 2018, Hans Bohnen was appointed to the Management Board of Clariant AG, where he led and managed the Care Chemicals, Catalysis and Renewables business units. In addition, Hans Bohnen was responsible for Procurement and Technology as well as the North and South America regions. Since mid-2023, Hans Bohnen has been appointed as Group CEO of HyCC.
“We are delighted that we are able to announce Dr. Hans Bohnen as the new CEO for Röhm and are convinced that, together with his two colleagues Dr. Hans-Peter Hauck and Martin Krämer, he will continue to drive the strategic direction we have taken and successfully lead Röhm into the future,” summarizes Dr. Dahai Yu.
