Incident in Bay City
On Friday, March 7, an over-pressurization incident occurred at the Bay City site. While commissioning a chiller unit, a small amount of ammonia vapor was released. Several external contractors working at the site were affected and taken to area hospitals for medical treatment and observation. According to current knowledge, all individuals have since been released.
There was no threat to the public at any time. Röhm is cooperating closely with authorities. The safety of employees, the community, and the environment remain to be the company’s priority.
Roehm’s new plant in Bay City is not in operation yet and currently in the final stage of the start-up. Work on the plant resumed Friday evening.
