More diversity: Röhm now offers recycled PLEXIGLAS® proTerra in white
- PLEXIGLAS® proTerra saves resources in shopfitting and booth construction
- Solid sheets made from recycled material now also available in white
- Transparent and black versions available in additional thicknesses
One year after launching PLEXIGLAS® proTerra, Röhm has expanded the range of this product family, which carries the new brand qualifier used throughout the company to denote sustainability. Solid sheets made from recycled acrylic glass are now also available in white, while the transparent and black versions are available in additional thicknesses.
“This is our response to the increasing demand for resource-friendly and recyclable materials for booth construction and shopfitting,” says Denise Gündling, responsible for the furniture and interior design segment at the Acrylic Products business unit. “PLEXIGLAS® proTerra is a high-quality sheet material made from around 90% recycled acrylic glass, meeting the high brand quality of the original.”
The broader range provides greater flexibility in project planning and makes it much easier to adapt products – saving resources and costs.
- PLEXIGLAS® proTerra white is available in thicknesses of 3, 4 and 5 mm.
- PLEXIGLAS® proTerra transparent colorless is now available in 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 8 mm thicknesses.
- PLEXIGLAS® proTerra black is currently available in the thicknesses 2, 3, 4 and 5 mm.
Recycled and in proven quality
Its high-gloss look, lightness and ease of processing make PLEXIGLAS® proTerra ideal for myriad applications in furniture construction, booth construction and shopfitting, as well as interior design. With a core made from recycled material left over from PLEXIGLAS® production and outer layers made from new material, the co-extruded sheet material displays the proven properties of acrylic glass from the PLEXIGLAS® brand.
Transparent-colorless PLEXIGLAS® proTerra with 92 percent light transmission, for example, offers the same extraordinary transparency and brilliance as virgin PLEXIGLAS® XT – and is stronger and lighter than glass in comparable geometries. That makes it an environmentally-friendly material for shop counters, display cabinets and transparent protective screens.
In white and black, PLEXIGLAS® proTerra – an opaque solid sheet with a glossy surface on both sides – sets elegant accents in booth construction, shopfitting and interior design, for example as wall or counter cladding, or as a material for shelving and product displays.
All versions are extremely resistant to weathering and aging – a key property for long-lasting and therefore sustainable plastics. Application examples and more information can be found on the PLEXIGLAS® website at PLEXIGLAS® proTerra.
PLEXIGLAS® is a building block for greater sustainability
With PLEXIGLAS® proTerra, Röhm has added another building block for sustainable projects to the PLEXIGLAS® portfolio. The original brand acrylic glass from Röhm is produced in an environmentally friendly way, while its myriad material properties offer solutions to many of the challenges of our time.
The Institut Bauen und Umwelt e.V. (IBU) has documented the environmental properties of PLEXIGLAS® in an environmental product declaration (EPD). The EPD is available to download here: EPD for PLEXIGLAS® solid sheets.
Track 2030 – The Röhm Sustainability Program
Röhm has brought together all sustainability activities across the company under Track 2030 – The Röhm Sustainability Program. The company’s implementation of this program is based on the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations, among others. Sustainability is an integral part of the business strategy.
“Every division is already working on the implementation,” says Chief Operating Officer (COO) Hans-Peter Hauck. Well-known branded products from the company, such as PLEXIGLAS® and DEGAROUTE®, are also available in the “proTerra” sustainable version or are about to be launched. Products and services with this brand help to reduce the CO₂ footprint during production or for the customer, or to save resources such as raw materials, energy or water.
