Röhm presents DEGAROUTE® proTerra for the first time at the Intertraffic trade fair

Mar 29, 2022

  • Road markings based on DEGAROUTE® can now also be produced with recycled methyl methacrylate (RMMA)
  • Trials show comparable quality and performance with established products, but with significantly reduced CO2 footprint
  • Meet Röhm in Amsterdam at the INTERTRAFFIC from March 29th to April 1st 2022, stand 01.160

Global megatrends such as sustainability and environmental protection have been playing a crucial role in the road marking sector for some time now. Reducing emissions from increasing traffic volumes is a major concern across the world and is a driving factor for innovation in road construction. With DEGAROUTE® proTerra, Röhm is now offering a resin for road markings that contains at least 30 percent recycled methyl methacrylate (RMMA) providing a reduced CO2 footprint.

With DEGAROUTE® proTerra, Röhm has developed a product for cold plastic characterized by excellent visibility and durability while at the same time offering a resource-saving alternative to conventional binders for road markings. DEGAROUTE® proTerra is therefore making a contribution to Röhm GmbH’s sustainability strategy, “Track 2030”

DEGAROUTE® based road markings are solvent-free, reactive systems. They produce almost no volatile organic compounds (VOC) and do not require external heat input during application. “Due to their longevity, road markings based on DEGAROUTE® have always contributed to resource efficiency.

DEGAROUTE® proTerra significantly increases this efficiency. The expansion of our product portfolio allows us to even better support the sustainability goals aimed for by our customers,” says Jochen Henkels, head of the Methacrylate Resins Business Unit at Röhm.

DEGAROUTE® proTerra is presented as a new solution with a reduced CO2 footprint. Laboratory and application tests show that the quality and performance of this innovation is comparable to already established products. The advantages of methacrylate-based road markings remain unchanged: DEGAROUTE® proTerra combines durability, excellent visual and acoustic properties and fast processing with short curing times while saving resources.

Products and services by Röhm, with the proTerra brand addition, make a contribution to reducing the CO2 footprint and to save resources such as raw materials, energy or water.

DEGAROUTE® proTerra offers the advantages of established DEGAROUTE® products while saving resources.
