Röhm strengthens European supply chains with enhanced production capabilities
Röhm is entering the new year with a significantly strengthened production base, reinforcing its position as a reliable partner for the European market.
In late 2025, the company successfully commissioned a new sulfuric acid plant at its Worms site. In addition, Röhm carried out a scheduled maintenance shutdown of interconnected production units during the fourth quarter, further improving overall plant availability. As a result, all production lines at the Worms facility have been operating at full capacity since the beginning of the year.
With these investments, Röhm—currently the only producer of methyl methacrylate (MMA) in Europe—plays a key role in bolstering regional supply chains and ensuring a continuous, predictable supply of MMA to customers across the continent.
Röhm is the only global producer of MMA and polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) with manufacturing sites in Europe, Asia, and North America. The company’s integrated production concept focuses on regional manufacturing for regional markets.
“We are pleased that our full production capacity in Worms is now available again, enabling us to continue supplying our customers in Europe quickly and reliably,” says Hans Bohnen, CEO of Röhm. “Sulfuric acid is a crucial precursor for MMA production, and MMA itself is an essential chemical building block for key industries including automotive, construction, and medical technology.”
In recent years, Röhm has consistently invested in expanding the capabilities of the Worms site and establishing a new innovation center. “These enhancements provide a strong foundation for future growth—for our company and for our customers,” Bohnen adds.
