Shutdown of the Westwego Facility
Röhm America LLC confirms that operations at its Westwego, Louisiana facility were officially discontinued as of end of June, 2025. This step was first announced two years ago as part of Röhm’s long-term strategic transformation.
The closure aligns with the start-up of Röhm’s new world-scale methyl methacrylate (MMA) production plant in Bay City, Texas. This state-of-the-art facility, with an annual capacity of 250,000 metric tons, is based on Röhm’s proprietary LiMA technology—delivering significantly higher yields and substantially lower CO₂ emissions compared to to traditional production routes. It also strengthens supply security for Röhm’s global customer base.
With the Bay City plant now operational, the majority of customer demand is being met from this new site. Röhm remains a committed and reliable partner to its customers and expresses its sincere appreciation to all employees in Westwego for their dedication and contributions over the years.
