Always there, whatever the problem
A different challenge awaits him every day. It is this that attracted him to the role that he took on more than two years ago at the production plant. “The fact that the job is so varied makes it special,” he says. “We have around 60 employees here and there is always someone with something that needs addressing.” Word of Philipp’s reliability has spread quickly, “I’m quite often told that I can find a solution to any problem I come across. No matter what it is, I focus on the matter at hand and don't wait for a reminder.”
When Philipp took up his post in 2019 he was the first man in this particular role. In addition to him, four female colleagues work in similar positions at Röhm’s operations in Wesseling. In the company-wide Teams group, he joins together and works with about 68 women. So, Philipp was subjected to one or two comments to begin with. “But I get on with all my colleagues; I’m on good terms with everyone.” His experience has also contributed to this; Philipp recently celebrated ten years of service. He completed his training as a warehouse logistics specialist in 2014 and became a qualified logistics supervisor in 2017. His work as team coordinator and then as team leader has shaped him and taught him valuable skills.
Managing documents, compiling reports, overseeing time management; these tasks are all part of Philipp’s day-to-day work. He’s also made a name for himself with small projects such as the certification of cargo units. “I come from a logistics background so I was happy to take it on.” And he has done so in addition to his usual tasks, which range from scheduling to transport organization. After a day at work, he relaxes by mountain biking – as he lives in Zülpich, he takes advantage of the Eifel range on his doorstep. His top priority, however, is his family. He recently took parental leave for his son Ben. But Philipp is also hand for the rest of the family. Last year, he spent numerous weekends helping his brother-in-law with house renovations. So, he’s a troubleshooter outside of work too.
